I wish I could take a year off to read all the books I've wanted to read but haven't. Life moves too fast. I need to start making time for slower things.

Just coded up a pretty interesting bit of code that analyzes all the waypoints in a flight plan and determines if any of them are within the sensor range or lethality sphere of a detected threat. Basically so we don't get shot out of the sky.

The next step is to make sure none of the flight plan segments (the lines between the points, not just the points) intersect the lethality sphere of a threat. A much harder thing to do. I'll let you know how it goes, I'm sure you're on the edge of your seat by now, right?

Thinking about this article on NASA's next Mars mission...

Why can't NASA build a rover that can last longer than 120 days? And why are they only using Solar Power? Nuclear power seems like a better way to go.

What would be really cool is to build a rover that could pick up new energy or payload "pods" that were dropped by a periodic visiting orbiter allowing the rover to refuel and adapt its mission.

It's a shame the $800M they spent is only good for a few months of research data.
